Monastry St. Peter
(St. Peter)
In the 11th century, the dukes of Zähringen decided to build a Benedictine abbey near Saint Peter. Several fires damaged the abbey completely. Finally, came the famous architect Peter Thumb around 1720 and built the monastery church with its distinctive two towers as it is still today. Remarkable is also the rich Baroque decor. The library hall - also built by Peter Thumb – is very famous and worth seeing.
