Kandel
The mountain “Kandel”, 1242 meters, is one of the highest mountains of the southern Black Forest and lies between St. Peter and Waldkirch. A wonderful view over the Rhine valley to the Vosges mountains. On the Kandel Pass, there is also a guesthouse and right next to it a heavily frequented starting point for hang- and paragliding. The Kandel-Hochmoor is a natural monument with heather and bristle grass.
The legend says that 300-500 years ago, the witches had their fiests and ceremonies on top of the Kandel.
