Staufen

A small and historical town at the entrance to the Münstertal Valley: about. 20 km south of Freiburg you reach Staufen with its remarkable historical city center. At the beginning of Staufen you see the ruins of the Staufen castle.
The magician and alchemist Doctor Faust, was called by the Lord of the castle to make gold for them. He lived in the old city. The Chronicle reports that the doctor was brought here in 1539 by Mephistopheles, "the supreme devil."
